d/Deaf and Disabled People's Election Special with Sinn Féin

Disability Action, North West Forum of People with Disabilities and RNID will host the d/Deaf and Disabled People's Election Special with Sinn Féin on Thursday 31 March 2022 from 11:00 – 12:00.

The event will feature:

Pádraig Delargy, MLA and Disability Spokesperson
Colm Gildernew, MLA and Chair of the Health Committee

And will be chaired by:

Tony O'Reilly, Disability Rights Campaigner and Human Rights Activist, Northwest Forum of People with Disabilities

Andrea Brown, CEO at Disability Action will open the event.

Sinn Féin have informed us that they will announce their Manifesto commitments at this event.

BSL and ISL Interpreters and live captioning will be available.

The Civic Initiative

The Civic Initiative is examining socioeconomic rights under the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland. They have four stages of public participation and offer travel reimbursement for those in the Republic of Ireland border counties. The project covers various topics and is funded by the International Fund for Ireland.
Voting with a disability

EONI work to ensure that all residents in Northern Ireland are on the electoral register and are able to cast their vote. There are a number of provisions in place to support electors who require additional assistance to cast their vote:
Exploring the need for food banks for disabled people – a call for evidence

The Trussell Trust calls for evidence for an ambitious research project to better understand disabled people’s experiences of the social security system and the drivers behind the overrepresentation of disabled people being referred to food banks. This includes a comparative analysis of disabled people’s experiences of claiming Adult Disability Payments in Scotland, and Personal Independence Payments across the rest of the UK.
