  1. Who we are
  2. Our history

Our history

Disability Action originated in the 1950’s as a standing committee under the support of what is now the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA).

Over the next 3 decades they developed and in March 1986 became the Northern Ireland Council for the Handicapped and then the Northern Ireland Council on Disability (N.I.C.D) in February 1987.

Finally in 1992 NICD changed its name to Disability Action NI.

Disability Action also has two subsidiary companies, Disability Action (NI) Employment & Training and Disability Action Tradeable Services LTD, which houses a number of our projects.
