About us

1 in 5 people in Northern Ireland have a disability.

Disability Action is the largest Northern Ireland wide pan-disability organisation working with disabled people with various disabilities: physical disabilities, learning disabilities, sensory disabilities, hidden disabilities and mental health disabilities.

Our Vision

A society which is inclusive, adapts to meet the needs of people with disabilities, rather than one that expects them to fit in.

A society that recognises disabled people's right to be different and to live their life in a way which meets their particular needs without prejudice.

Our Mission

We work to promote, protect and uphold the human rights of disabled people.

Organisational Information

Disability Action (NI) is a registered charity (Charity Reference No. NIC100004), a voluntary organization and a company limited by guarantee (Company No. 19258).

Disability Action emphasizes the need to learn from COVID-19 regarding the treatment and support of people with disabilities, including non-discrimination in medical resource allocation, involving disabled individuals in decision-making, providing accessibility, developing guidelines with disabled organizations, and ensuring vaccine centers are accessible. Disability Action also highlights the need for disaggregated disability data for monitoring inclusion in the response and recovery.
