Last Friday, 26th March, we were saddened with the news of the passing of our Board Member Bill Riddall.  Bill became a member of Disability Action’s Board of Directors in October 2011 and has been a stalwart of support for this organisation since then.

As a tetraplegic wheelchair user, Bill was committed to the integration of disabled people into all aspects of political and social life in Northern Ireland - promoting independent living and improving arts access. He was involved in UK disability rights campaigns, was a board member of a number of UK charities in the arts and disability and also the Treasurer of Centre for Independent Living NI.

Andrea Brown, Disability Action's Chief Executive (Interim) said:

Bill will be remembered for his wit and straight talking at Disability Action's Board meetings. His commitment to disability rights goes without saying; if you met him you knew where he stood, but his personal belief and support for the work of Disability Action was unwavering. He was challenging and supportive, funny and uplifting, a gentleman and will be sorely missed by us all. Thank you Bill.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill's family and friends.
