Angela Hutchison – Mobility Centre Manager won this years’ Driving Mobility Centre Managers Award.  Driving Mobility is a network of 16 independent driving and assessment centres across the UK, offering advice, guidance and assessment services to the public. The award recognised Angela’s exceptional management of Disability Action’s Mobility Centre during a particularly challenging year when referrals dropped significantly and then rose quickly again to unprecedented levels. The award also recognised Angela’s continued service focusing on peoples’ driving independence and road safety throughout the year.  

 

Angela was totally surprised by her award saying “The award was totally unexpected and comes in a year when we were successful in securing a Motability grant. The grant has meant we now employ two new full time driving instructors and over three years they will be able to deliver individually tailored driving lessons and theory test tuition to people with a range of disabilities. This has been life changing already for a number of people and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the three years go.”
