Our work at a Westminster level is limited by resources – we just don’t have the people or the money to be over at Westminster all the time.  However, when it is in relation to a matter that could significantly impact on disabled people in NI then we will.  If the Westminster Government is producing a white paper on an issue and we think it may be adopted here then we will influence this work.

Some areas of work that we have undertaken at this level included:

• Responding to White Papers
• Responding to decisions on social security benefits.
• Responding to Committee calls for evidence if appropriate to NI.

We will continue to work with colleagues from disability organisations across the UK on the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).  You can read more about our work on UNCRPD.
