Please note the Report and Executive Summary contain some distressing information.

Disability Action remain acutely aware of the pressures, anxiety and stress being caused to all in our global community in respect of COVID–19 (Coronavirus).

As Northern Ireland went into lockdown with much of the rest of the world in March, what became very clear, was our community felt that their voices were being lost in the noise or worse simply ignored in the confusion and panic that was unfolding. Many people were frightened about the future.

During this time, like so many, we diverted our resources to doing what we could to support our community.

A small team undertook one of the largest surveys in our history to gather the experiences of disabled people, their families and carers during this time. We felt it was important that peoples voices and experiences were recorded.

The data gathered gives a clear picture in time of the reality for disabled people on the ground in Northern Ireland as COVID-19 hit.

We want to ensure that disabled people’s voices are listened to, and their rights respected.
