Paul Clarke, who was born in Belfast in 1971, lost his hearing at the age of four after contracting meningitis. In an article in the View Digital magazine (page 31) he talks about his battles and the hurdles he has had to overcome.

The Department is working towards the implementation of a Sign Language Act and last week the Department for Communities welcomed Majella McAteer to the Department's Sign Language Team for a two year secondment from the British Deaf Association.
