The Disability Toll Exemption Scheme was set up by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) in 2019 to allow Disability Modified Vehicles to be exempt from tolling charges on Irish toll roads.

From February 2020, a registered disability modified vehicle will not be liable to pay toll charges at any toll plaza on irish toll roads.

Eligibility for the scheme is clarified by the motorist having a certified disability modified vehicle.

DTES have confirmed to Disability Action that "Vehicles from Northern Ireland can have the toll exemption applied to them. Once the car has been modified/adapted and a copy of a letter showing this is provided we can register the car for the DTES exemption disc.  Otherwise, a tax cert showing that the car is for a disabled driver/passenger can be provided instead."
