Thank you to all the Councils and organisations, political and civic society and individual people throughout N.Ireland who participated in the ‘Purple Light Up’ and/or wore purple on International Day of Disabled People 2021 last Friday in support of disabled people and to build a movement for change.

Congratulations to all those who helped to make history and participated in the first ever Disabled People’s Parliament by sharing their valuable personal stories.

It was great to hear Junior Minister Declan Kearney make a commitment to incorporating the UNCRDP into law noting the need to secure cross-departmental agreement.

Andrea Brown, Chief Executive of Disability Action who closed the parliament said:

We look forward to engaging with the NI Executive and Senior politicians in the new year to discuss the issues raised today.
