In 2017, the National Parliament of Ireland passed the Irish Sign Language Act. Although Parliament in Westminster have restricted the reach of the BSL Act to Great Britain only, this is because the Northern Ireland Assembly plan to introduce their own Sign Language legislation sometime after the Assembly elections on 5 May.

BDA Northern Ireland urges BSL supporters living in Northern Ireland to ask Assembly candidates to pledge to support the BSL & ISL Bill introduced to the Assembly in the new parliamentary term, if they're elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly on the 5 May.

Use your vote on 5 May 2022 to help make this happen.
