Disability Action wishes to appoint for the following positions: -

Casual/Flexible Disability Support Worker (Ref DSW22) and Disability Sensory Support Workers (Ref DSSW22).

Casual/Flexible Disability Support Worker:

Following the successful award of Disability Support Services for young people with a disability participating in the Department for Economy’s Skills for Life & Work and Apprenticeships NI provision from 01 February 2022, Disability Action is seeking interest from Disability Support Workers, particularly to cover the Derry/Londonderry area.

The post holders will provide direct one to one and group-based effective and timely disability support to meet the needs of participants on Skills for Life and Work and/or Apprenticeships NI related training provision. They will plan their own calendar and activities to an agreed support plan, to meet the needs of participants to achieve their training and learning goals and planned qualifications and outcomes.

Summary of terms and conditions:

  • Casual/Flexible contract
  • Location: On-Site - particular need in the Derry/Londonderry area
  • Salary: £16.78 p/h
  • Immediate until 31st July 2024

About you:

  • Successful candidates will hold a level 3 qualification and/or have at least two years-experience (with at least one year in the last two years) in a related role in employability, training, teaching or learning support
  • You will also have knowledge and understanding of the needs of disabled people and relevant employment and equality legislation i.e. DDA.

They will plan their own calendar and activities to an agreed support plan, to meet the needs of participants to achieve their training and learning goals and planned qualifications and outcomes.

  • Casual/Flexible contract
  • Location: On-Site - particular need in the Belfast area
  • Salary: Minimum of £16.78 p/h but negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
  • Immediate until 31st July 2024

About you:

  • Successful candidates will hold a level 3 qualification and/or have at least two years-experience (with at least one year in the last two years) in a related role in employability, training, teaching or learning support.
  • Successful candidates should hold, at minimum, level 3 in British Sign Language (BSL). Candidates currently working towards Level 3 in BSL may also be considered.
  • You will also have knowledge and understanding of the needs of disabled people and relevant employment and equality legislation i.e. DDA.
