Shaping Disability Rights and Policy.
Disability Action works to influence legislation and public policy, ensuring the rights and voices of disabled people in Northern Ireland are heard, respected, and protected.
Our Commitment to Policy Change and Advocacy
Policy
Policy includes any plan, law, or proposal that could affect the lives of disabled people. For example, changes to government social security policy can have a major impact and are important to influence. Disability strategies and action plans are also key areas where input matters. Many policies created by government and other organisations can shape the lives of disabled people, and we work to influence them in different ways.
Representation
We carry out evidence-based research and submit formal responses to consultations and we engage with policymakers on issues that impact us all. Drawing on our own experiences, the experiences of our members, service users and communities, we advocate for positive change and seek to influence legislation, policy and public services.
Impact and Outcomes
We track and report on measurable improvements in disability rights and inclusion resulting from our advocacy efforts.
