Job Match is engaging with NI employers

NI employers and Job Match are supporting disabled people in their job preparation.

Last week our Job Match team held our first virtual Meet the Employer Event which was a resounding success.

Alison Long from Belfast City Council who participated in the event said:

Belfast City Council is committed to promoting positive action measures to encourage and train under-represented groups to overcome disadvantages in competing with other applicants. We were delighted to meet virtually with some of Disability Action’s service users to provide hints and tips on completing application forms and interview skills techniques.

Exploring the need for food banks for disabled people – a call for evidence

The Trussell Trust calls for evidence for an ambitious research project to better understand disabled people’s experiences of the social security system and the drivers behind the overrepresentation of disabled people being referred to food banks. This includes a comparative analysis of disabled people’s experiences of claiming Adult Disability Payments in Scotland, and Personal Independence Payments across the rest of the UK.
