Job Match - Helping disabled people find paid employment

Lauren Portis is a Supported Employment Officer with the Job Match programme at Disability Action and over the last two and a half years has supported disabled people in the Newry, Armagh and Craigavon areas to find paid work.

With support from Lauren and the Job Match programme some of her clients have successfully gained employment as Sales Assistant with Pound Stretchers, Grounds Keeper with the Killeavy Castle Hotel, Associate Applications Developer with Almac and Technology Consultant with PwC.

Job Match works with employers of all sizes to help disabled people get the new job they are looking for.

The Trussell Trust calls for evidence for an ambitious research project to better understand disabled people’s experiences of the social security system and the drivers behind the overrepresentation of disabled people being referred to food banks. This includes a comparative analysis of disabled people’s experiences of claiming Adult Disability Payments in Scotland, and Personal Independence Payments across the rest of the UK.
