Disability Action wishes to appoint for the following position: -

Casual/Flexible Disability Support Worker (Sensory Support) (Ref DSW22)

Following the successful award of Disability Support Services for young people with a disability participating in the Department for Economy’s Skills for Life & Work and Apprenticeships NI provision from 01 February 2022, Disability Action is seeking interest from Disability Support Workers (Sensory Support).

We are seeking Disability Support Workers (Sensory Support) in all locations throughout Northern Ireland.

About you:

  • Successful candidates will hold a level 3 qualification and/or have at least two years-experience (with at least one year in the last two years) in a related role in employability, training, teaching or learning support, specifically in sensory support for young people or adults with sight, hearing or multi-sensory impairment. 

  • Candidates with experience as an ‘educational interpreter’ are particularly welcome.

  • You will also have knowledge and understanding of the needs of disabled people and relevant employment and equality legislation i.e. DDA.
