Disability Action explores inclusion and equality on the WIP Forum Discussion

On 22nd June 2020 Sean Fitzsimons, Employment Advocacy Coordinator and Face 2 Face Project Manager at Disability Action, took part in the Washington Ireland Programme Forum Discussion to explore the issues of equality and inclusion in Northern Ireland and Ireland.

Sean was joined by three other inspirational panel members Alannah Murray, Jacqueline Phiri and Julie O'Leary.

The Civic Initiative

The Civic Initiative is examining socioeconomic rights under the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland. They have four stages of public participation and offer travel reimbursement for those in the Republic of Ireland border counties. The project covers various topics and is funded by the International Fund for Ireland.

Exploring the need for food banks for disabled people – a call for evidence

The Trussell Trust calls for evidence for an ambitious research project to better understand disabled people’s experiences of the social security system and the drivers behind the overrepresentation of disabled people being referred to food banks. This includes a comparative analysis of disabled people’s experiences of claiming Adult Disability Payments in Scotland, and Personal Independence Payments across the rest of the UK.
