Join us on Wednesday 15 December at 11am for a discussion with d/Deaf and Disabled People to hear our views on proposed Welfare Mitigations. During the discussion, chaired by Les Allamby, we will have an opportunity to put forward our priorities.

The NI Executive has committed to Article 28 of the UNCRPD The right to an adequate standard of living and social protection. Article 28 requires State Parties to recognise the rights of d/Deaf and Disabled People to an adequate standard of living for themselves and their families, including adequate food, clothing and housing.

The Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey has appointed an Independent Advisory Panel to review welfare mitigation measures which is chaired by Les Allamby.

Les Allamby will Chair an discussion with d/Deaf and Disabled People to hear our views on proposed Mitigations. During the discussion we will have an opportunity to put forward our priorities.

Tony O'Reilly from the Northwest Forum of People with Disabilities will outline a strategic intervention on the right to an adequate standard of living and social protection on our behalf. This will be followed by a Round Table discussion in which we can raise our issues, questions and priorities.
