Who we are Work for us Current Vacancy: Community Navigator (Ref CNO20) One in five people in Northern Ireland have a disability. Disability Action believes in human rights for all and works to promote, protect and uphold the human rights of people with disabilities. We are a Northern Ireland wide pan disability organisation working with disabled people with various disabilities; physical, mental, sensory, learning and hidden. The Outreach & Navigation for Social Inclusion & Digital Engagement (ONSIDE) programme is a cross border project led by Disability Action NI (DANI) in partnership with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE); the Independent Living Movement Ireland (ILMI); and Supporting Communities (SC). It seeks to improve the life outcomes of people with disabilities living in the border region of Northern Ireland & the Republic of Ireland by creating a new cross border area community support services to support disabled people who are socially isolated. Disability Action wishes to appoint several roles for the following position: - Community Navigator (Ref CNO20) £24,766 pa Full Time Hours 35 hours per week. Flexible Part Time Salary will be calculated on a pro rata basis. At this time Disability Action also seeks to compile a bank list to support future developments of the project. Fixed to 31 March 2022 The Community Navigator will have the responsibility for providing tailored one to one support to people with disabilities to help address their social isolation. The successful applicant must have the following: At least 3 years experience of assessing, identifying and addressing the social isolation needs of disabled people (or other similar disadvantaged or vulnerable groups). Proven experience of working within a client centered context. Knowledge and understanding of services and community activity for disabled people provided by statutory, voluntary and community sectors. The ability to plan, manage and control a range of different work areas while under pressure. A professional approach and ability to work independently. Ability to analyse and provide creative solutions to problems. A commitment to team working and collaboration. Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills including the ability to work sensitively in difficult circumstances with empathy, compassion and understanding.
