Engagement

It’s really important to us that we know what the issues are effecting disabled people every day.  It’s important so that we know what things to campaign on, plan our work and how to respond to issues. 

Disabled people will always be at the centre of what we do.  Engagement helps us to make sure we can do this in a focused way.  We engage in lots of different ways.  Have a look below at some of the ways you can get involved. 


Exploring the need for food banks for disabled people – a call for evidence

The Trussell Trust calls for evidence for an ambitious research project to better understand disabled people’s experiences of the social security system and the drivers behind the overrepresentation of disabled people being referred to food banks. This includes a comparative analysis of disabled people’s experiences of claiming Adult Disability Payments in Scotland, and Personal Independence Payments across the rest of the UK. Read more

    Voting with a disability

    EONI work to ensure that all residents in Northern Ireland are on the electoral register and are able to cast their vote. There are a number of provisions in place to support electors who require additional assistance to cast their vote:

  • Submission to the Independent Commission on UK Public Health Powers - Call for Evidence- February 2023

    Disability Action emphasizes the need to learn from COVID-19 regarding the treatment and support of people with disabilities, including non-discrimination in medical resource allocation, involving disabled individuals in decision-making, providing accessibility, developing guidelines with disabled organizations, and ensuring vaccine centers are accessible. Disability Action also highlights the need for disaggregated disability data for monitoring inclusion in the response and recovery.
