It’s really important to us that we know what the issues are effecting disabled people every day. It’s important so that we know what things to campaign on, plan our work and how to respond to issues.
Disabled people will always be at the centre of what we do. Engagement helps us to make sure we can do this in a focused way. We engage in lots of different ways. Have a look below at some of the ways you can get involved.
The Trussell Trust calls for evidence for an ambitious research project to better understand disabled people’s experiences of the social security system and the drivers behind the overrepresentation of disabled people being referred to food banks. This includes a comparative analysis of disabled people’s experiences of claiming Adult Disability Payments in Scotland, and Personal Independence Payments across the rest of the UK. Read more
The Strategic Advisory Group is made of disabled people who have an interest in Disability Action’s work. They may use some of our services or have an interest in campaigning and policy. Read more
We engage with disabled people, organisations and government in a number of groups and forums. We may be very involved, for example, Co-Chairing a group or just have a member of staff attend. Read more
