Trevor Hale recently celebrated 15 years working with Tesco Newry. This milestone for long service was celebrated in May 2020, during COVID lockdown, when Trevor was under possibly the most pressure in his working career!

Trevor works as a cashier; he is very polite, very efficient and friendly to customers which whom he has built up a rapport over the years.

Employment Officer Sinead Kerton supports Trevor through the Workable NI programme. She meets with Trevor on and off site to discuss his progress, any concerns he may have, review the adjustments made specifically for him in the workplace and ensure these are still effective.  Trevor is more assertive in the workplace having attended a Disability Action Confidence Course.

Sinead has also provided advice and guidance to Tesco on Trevor’s role, reasonable adjustments and good practice. Tesco are a great employer and are always willing and open to consider any changes/adjustments to ensure the best outcome for Trevor and his productivity in the workplace.

Lisa Taggart, Trevor's Line Manager at Tesco commented:

At Tesco we pride ourselves to empower and inspire all colleagues with disabilities in their lives. Trevor is a great advocate of this. As much as he enjoys working in Tesco, we enjoy working alongside him. Listening to him say how much he loves his job proves that we give him the support and confidence to deliver in his role.

Workable is funded by the Department of Communities.
