Heather White, Retail Operations HR Business Partner from Musgrave Retail Partners NI trading as Musgrave Northern Ireland, recently participated in one of Job Match’s Job Preparation Workshops.

Heather provided valuable expertise on how our participants could stand out to an employer and make an impression. Her contribution to the workshop helped to break down barriers for Job Match participants interested in careers with large/multi-site employers. Heather said:

I am really privileged to be asked again to join the Job Match employability workshop with Disability Action for a second time. I think it is really commendable the work that goes into these to support candidates. I look forward to working with Disability Action in the future and to grow our relationship.

By engaging with employers in these soft skill workshops our Job Match participants get hints and tips on applying for jobs in different sectors, on making their CV or application form standout, advice on how to enhance their interview skills and prepare for online interviews. Commenting on this workshop participants said “I really enjoyed the workshop” and “I found the breakout rooms very useful”.

Our Employment Engagement Officers Michael Moore and Tommy Cairns engage with local employers, get to know them and their business and work in partnership with employers to guide them through the recruitment process and help find the right candidate.

Michael, who works with employers in the Greater Belfast, Counties Down, Armagh, Fermanagh, East Tyrone and South Antrim areas said:

The value of employer input cannot be underestimated, as it provides a “human” side to large companies and organisations. This helps our participants feel more confident when applying for jobs and gives them great insight into the many different roles an employer has to offer. As an Employment Engagement Officer, I work closely with local employers to develop a good working relationship, allowing me to be a key point of contact for the employer and a source of information for highly motivated individuals seeking a career.

Tommy engages with employers in the Northwest, Derry~Londonderry, West Tyrone, North Antrim. Tommy commented:

Delivering these workshops is important to me as it is a chance to deliver valuable information, on different aspects of the recruitment process, from the application to interview stage. The workshops are an excellent opportunity for our Job Match participants to learn about employability skills and to meet our employers who come along to share their insights of the recruitment process, and what they are looking for in an ideal candidate.

Tommy and Michael are currently seeking employers to participate in Job Preparation Workshops and help our Job Match participants with their job search. If this is of interest or you would like more information contact:
