The Education Authority have published a Proposed Framework of the Provision for Children in the Early Years with Special Educational Needs (SEN) for public consultation.

The framework is based on a developmental model of service delivery and provision.  It is aimed at embracing the needs of our children, not just in relation to early year’s placements in special schools, but in relation to the wider needs of children and parents as they commence a journey from early assessment to support and targeted intervention.

The Education Authority believe that the significant engagement and consultation processes surrounding the development of the proposed framework for future provision has provided an opportunity to transform the delivery of early years SEN provision across Northern Ireland in partnership with those who use it most. Their key aim is to develop an integrated framework that will offer our children the best start in life through early intervention, flexibility and parental involvement and support.
