Tommy Cairns Job Match Employment Engagement Officer, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) and the Northern Ireland Union of Supported Employment (NIUSE), recently hosted an information session on the job opportunities available for Work Coaches (Executive Officer II) within the Department for Communities (DfC).

Cathy Casey  and Aaron Tumelty from NICSHR along with Leanne Lyttle, DfC Work Coach gave participants a unique insight into the NICS, the recruitment process and a snapshot of the day to day work of a Work Coach.

The information session was open to all supported employment organisations throughout NI and we welcomed participants from Disability Action’s Job Match Project, RNIB, Clanrye Group, Action Mental Health (AMH).

Julia Adams of AMH New Horizons Antrim branch found the event very informative. “I think these sessions where there are a lot of jobs available are great. We got to hear from Leanne who works in the job we are applying for and what it is like; it doesn’t sound as daunting as it does when reading about the role.”

NICSHR was delighted to work together with Disability Action and NIUSE on the information session. "We look forward to continuing our work together to raise awareness of the wide variety of career opportunities in the Civil Service, and to support our ambition of being a diverse and inclusive employer where everyone can reach their full potential,” Cathy Casey, NICSHR Diversity & Inclusion Team.
