Support Works offers learning support to young people with significant learning
disabilities on the Government’s mainstream Jobskills Programme.
-
The Project offers trainees with significant learning disabilities additional
support to achieve qualifications to increase their employability.
-
Two Learning Support Workers based in Belfast and Derry work on a 1:1 basis
with trainees across Northern Ireland in either Training Organisations or
Colleges.
-
The project ensures that trainees with significant learning disabilities have
the opportunity to fully participate in NVQ training. Trainees are offered a
quality package of support which meets their individual needs in various areas
including literacy, numeracy, portfolio building, work placement and personal
development.
-
Support Works is a two-year Project funded through the Building Sustainable
Prosperity Programme with match funding from Training Programmes Branch.
-
The Careers Service refers trainees to the Programme.
This project operates throughout Northern Ireland
