Luminous Soul: Dance Project for Disabled People

05 November 2009

Open Arts has a new project for all disabled people with an interest in dance.

Luminous Soul is part of a series of events led by Open Arts for the Legacy Trust UK " Connections" programme, funded by Legacy Trust UK, an independent charity set up to help build a lasting cultural and sporting legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. "Connections" is managed by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Luminous Soul will run over the next 3 years and to kick start it we will be running Dance Development Days in the following areas: Belfast (30th November 2009), Derry (Jan 2010), Omagh (March 2010), Ballymena (May 2010), Newry (Aug 2010).

Candoco Dance Company from London will facilitate our first DANCE DEVELOPMENT DAY in Belfast on Monday 30th November 2009 (10am - 4.30pm).

Candoco Dance Company 'push boundaries of contemporary dance beyond usual expectations and broaden people's perception of what dance is and who can dance'. www.Candoco.co.uk

This is a unique opportunity to work with inspiring facilitators in a safe and secure environment.

Through Luminous Soul we hope to identify people who have real potential to be dancers or dance teachers. In addition to Dance Development Days, we will be offering week long Residential Courses with experienced disabled tutors that will run over the next 3 years.

For more information about Dance Development Days and for Registration Forms please go to www.openarts.net. There is no cost for the Dance Development Days but you need to be over 18.
