A budget to protect the most vulnerable?

A paper has been developed by Disability Action outlining its position on the emergency budget published in June 2010 and presenting the views of disabled people who will be directly affected.


The Chancellor George Osborne presented his budget to the House of Commons on 22 June 2010. The Chancellor said that this budget, aims to tackle the deficit, transform the economy through private sector led growth and to ensure that the most vulnerable are protected.

However, the plans outlined in the budget will have a huge detrimental impact on the lives of disabled people and their families, many of whom are up to four times more likely to be unemployed, and to live in poverty.
