Dogs that tell you when there is someone at the door, guide you through busy streets, help with the laundry and even warn of epileptic seizures – these are all tasks done every day by Northern Ireland’s assistance dogs, including around 90 guide dogs for the blind and 15 hearing dogs for deaf people.

The Women’s Resource and Development Agency currently offer a Breast and Cervical Screening Awareness Programme aimed at women’s groups and community groups within the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust. The project combines the resources of the community development sector and the health sector in order to increase uptake of screening services.

Revealing new research exposes worrying unconscious prejudices in modern Britain. The ground-breaking research commissioned by the charity Changing Faces reveals that people with facial disfigurements are likely to be marginalised because little is expected of them, both socially and professionally. The survey results reflect the anecdotal experience reported by people who contact the charity.
