Internationally renowned comedian, Adam Hills (Mock The Week, Royal Variety Performance), is presenting a new TV show for BBC Northern Ireland which aims to explore the relationship between disability and comedy.
Adam has taken on the challenge to prove that people with disabilities shouldn’t be excluded from stand up comedy, nor should they have to be the butt of the joke.
Adam was born without a right foot and believes that stand up comedy can feature disability in a way that’s funny and entertaining, without being offensive or reinforcing stereotypes. It is hoped that the show will have a positive influence on people’s views about disability.
On July 31st, Adam and some special guests, will perform a comedy gig in Mandela Hall in Belfast. The gig will be filmed as part of the programme, and attendees will be invited to share their opinions about the gig after the show if they would like to.
Free tickets are available on a first come first serve basis, to anyone over the age of 18. If you’d like to apply for tickets, email tickets@mindthegapfilms.comas soon as possible, to avoid disappointment.
Mandela Hall is wheelchair accessible. Mind the Gap films will endeavour to provide a BSL interpreter for the gig, please state if you require one when applying for tickets.
