Outreach Work

As part of its outreach programme, Disability Action’s Centre on Human Rights engages with people with disabilities, human rights and disability organizations, political representatives and public bodies to increase awareness of the human rights of people with disabilities.

How the Outreach Officer can help you?

If are a person with a disability and you would like to know more about your human rights; how you can exercise these rights or get involved in promoting these rights,  you can speak to the Outreach Officer.

Or perhaps you belong to an organisation/group which would like to improve its engagement with people with disabilities. You can speak to the Outreach Officer about how to do this and how to adopt a human rights-based approach towards people with disabilities.

Human Rights Support Programme

This programme is designed to provide tailored support for groups and individuals working with people with disabilities. 

The Outreach Officer has helped new groups to establish themselves, supporting them to identify their:

-purpose

-mission statement

-constitution

-strategy

-funding

-training

Join a Coalition and start to campaign

The Outreach Officer is currently setting up coalitions of disabled people and representatives of disability organisations to campaign on key issues affecting the human rights of people with disabilities. The coalitions will focus on employment, independent living and health. If you are interested in joining a coalition and wish to find out more information, you can contact the outreach officer using the details below.

The REAL Network
Disability Action’s Centre on Human Rights supports the REAL (Rights, Empowerment, Action and Lobbying) Network – a group of disabled human rights activists who work to ensure that the human rights of people with disabilities are given full effect.
