Are you interested in finding out more about the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities and how it will help people with disabilities living in Northern Ireland?
The UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities is a new international agreement, which was ratified by the UK in 2009. It is the first human rights agreement for people with disabilities, protecting their rights in all areas of life including education, employment, health, personal mobility and independent living.
Disability Action’s Centre on Human Rights is pleased to offer a unique training opportunity- ‘Understanding the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities’. This one-day course is OCN accredited and a level 2 credit is available. This course would be relevant for people with disabilities, representative groups and public authorities.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to understand the background to the Convention; its rights and principles; the monitoring mechanism and the Optional Protocol; and how the Convention may be used in a practical way by individuals in Northern Ireland.
