Are you a person with a disability with an interest in lobbying for change for all people with disabilities?

05 March 2010

Disability Action’s Centre on Human Rights wishes to recruit people with disabilities to join the Rights Empowerment Action & Lobbying (REAL) Network, a Northern Ireland wide Disability Rights Activist Group.

The UN Convention on Human Rights for People with Disabilities confirms that people with disabilities in Northern Ireland have the same human rights as everyone else. This is your opportunity to play a role in profiling, promoting and protecting the human rights of disabled people at local, national and international level.

You will receive training to enable you to become a human rights activist, which will include:
- Identity & Diversity;
- Human Rights;
- Legislation;
- Presentation skills;
- Equality;
- Leadership; and
- Lobbying.

This is a voluntary role but you will be paid for all out of pocket expenses during the programme. You will also receive regular ongoing support.

Disability Action's Centre on Human Rights is particularly interested in recruiting people from the areas of Mid-Ulster and North East Antrim.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the REAL network, please contact:
